Laulhre was founded in 1840 at the foot of the Pyrnes, near Pau in the commune of Oloron Sainte-Marie which in its heyday boasted a dozen beret-makers, and is known as the “cradle of the beret”.
Laulhre is now the only remaining beret-maker in France, and has a unique and exceptionally ancient heritage. With the takeover of its sibling Blancq-Olibet, Laulhre now embodies the entire tradition with a mission to preserve this invaluable cultural practice as part of Frances heritage and is working to resurrect the beret in France and around the world.
